Happy National Bird Day

“Today, nearly 12 percent of the world’s 9,800 bird species may face extinction within the next century, including nearly one-third of the world’s 330 parrot species.”

With climate change, ever-growing habitat loss and a host of other threats, many bird species will face challenges over the next century. Make it a 2015 goal to help avian conservation and raise awareness.

Consider volunteering at a wildlife center or donating some money to an organization the helps with conservation efforts like the National Audubon Society or the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.
